A good Japanese food favorite. Reasonable prices, good as expected service

The food is alright, but take care with ordering online. I had cancelled a web order and did not receive my money back; I was told that I had called to cancel my order just in time because it had not been made yet, and that they could cancel my order and transaction. However, I did not receive my money back which left me with the feeling that this business stole from me. After all, I paid for a service that I never got from this place.

Decent sushi. I did like that they bring you free edemame as an appetizer

Absolutely a place worth stopping by, the food is excellent and fresh, the pricing is convenient and it is regularly well organized in here. Keep it up.

This spot is my preferred one. I go to plenty of restaurants but to this one I keep coming back again and again. The team is very welcoming and the food they serve is so appetizing. I never decline to have a decent dinner in this place. I highly recommend this place.

This place gives off the neighborhood vibe once you walk in where everyone is a regular and the music is low key jazz. The food is portioned well with dozens of different rolls to choose from. If you want a good intimate place to enjoy sushi then come to this place.

I LOVE sushi and this is the BEST sushi in Contra Costa County hands down! We drive from Oakley to eat here because we can't find any better sushi closer to us. I have eaten at numerous sushi restaurants in this county and none come close on sushi. I rarely eat food besides sushi there but what I have tried isn't bad. I've never had a problem with the service but that is going to be subjective.

When I ever come pick up food here the Asian workers there are sooo rude ! I try to ignore , but I had it with their rudeness . They do not make you feel welcome , I don’t know if this is cause I’m Hispanic , but it’s always people like me they are rude too. I know because I have talked to Other customers that have experience this. I will never come pick up food here (doordash ) .

Definitely a place worth stopping by, the food is great and fresh, the prices are convenient and it is consistently clean there. Keep it up.

My Favorite Sushi Place Was Recently Closed, So My Boyfriend And I Decided To Give This Place A Chance. Going In There Was No One To Seat Us, The Waitress Caught Us At The Table To Give Us The Menus. We Ordered A California, Tiger, And Love Roll. All Which Took Almost 45 Min To Make. Each Roll Tasted Very Bland And Cheaply Made. The Rolls That Were Priced At 10$ Or More Werent Worth It At All. We Hardly Finished Any Of It, And Almost Felt Sick To Our Stomachs. This Is Not The Place To Go To For Sushi. Never Coming Back Here Again.One Star Rating For Trying.

I have a love/hate relationship with Matsu.I absolutely love their food. I always get extra salad with creamy sauce.But it seems that some of the staff give me hard time and this last time was kinda the last straw.I went to order my salad, doors were open and when I get to the cashier.. sorry we are closed...I was saddened because I have spent so much time here, even Door Dashing! Karrage chicken and salad. I've even forgave the time I was given their orange salad dressing (which I don't like)...The food is good, the price is good and the place is nice to sit and relax. I'm not a sushi person, but they have a good sushi bar as my friends always like getting there.

Had dinner here again after a few months of avoiding due to some not so stellar food & let me tell you they have seemed to improve a lot. We ordered the Philadelphia Roll, Gogo Roll, Lion King & some Jalapeno Pops and they were really hit the spot.

Matsu is one of my top favorite sushi restaurants. I have been to many around the nation. The rice tastes right.I return here often and never experience long wait or misunderstandings.I observed their food prep work more than a few times and they take much care in preparing the ingredients.

Service is a bit slow, but great authentic Japanese food. Tempura well cooked, sashimi is fresh, don buris srw great, but a little on small side. Overall a great Japanese spot.

Conveniently located in downtown Pleasant Hill. It's your average sushi place. Not usually busy. Decent sized portions. Scarce parking. Overall, ideal place to take the fam bam out to lunch or dinner after a movie.

Everyone was so friendly to us and very accommodating for our 9 mo. old. Even the sushi making guy was fun and making silly faces for her! The rolls were the best I've had and the place is very clean. No complaints whatsoever! We will definitely be coming back!

My dad thinks this place is the best. I'm not a sushi person, so I can't address that part, but the teriyaki is perfectly okay and so is the tempura.

The service is always efficient, good character, very welcoming staff members. I will eat here again when I arrive here.

It was tasty buuut please, please cut the sushi into smaller pieces; they were huge! Really very hard to eat. Also the music is rather out of place. Just Dance by Lady Gaga and Trouble by Taylor Swift we’re not what I expected but ok

The tuna sashimi here rivals any 5-star restaurant. The service is great; a local gem. We eat here at least twice a month.

Honestly so authentic and delicious. Lots of vegetarian options for a Japanese restaurant if that's your thing. A hidden gem.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Our Udon came out with a fruit fly in the soup, and the tempura shrimp was still freezer cold. The katsu don was extremely salty, and poorly made. When we walked in, the entire restaurant had a heavy burning scent, which we later found out was because the kitchen had recently burnt a fish. This is not acceptable or edible food. 0/5.

Its slow but not too bad for the price. Its cheaper to go to safeway for sushi, and it tastes somewhat better.

Was craving sushi when I got off work. Luckily for me they are really close. Great energy and vibeFast service and the quality of food is excellemtDefinitely recommend to my fellow sushi lovers.

Great sushi and great price

This place used to be good. But now they serve stale food. I love Japanese food, and am not easily disappointing. But when you can taste and smell stale food, it's a different story.

Our server was very friendly and open to making suggestions. Although the portions are smaller, they're good sizes with quality fish. The hamachi hand roll was especially delicious and the fish was delicate and buttery. I normally have stomach issues with bad sushi and I'm glad to report that this place is legit. Definitely will come back.

The sashimi’s selection is really good, fresh and full of taste. The warm sake is divine.
